Excursion Wool Blanket
Wool blankets are well known as the best insulating covers for cold settings. Whether they're used for camping; at home; in the cabin or RV; or in an emergency; they are ideal for keeping you warm. It's large enough to wrap two people comfortably. Imagine sitting snuggled up around a fire pit; camp fire; or on a park bench watching a sunset.
Washing
Wool blankets are washable. To maximize the life of your blanket; we recommend hand washing or dry cleaning.
- Avoid the dryer - dryers are very hard on most wool products. Air dry instead.
- Hand washing and dry cleaning are recommended. Spot cleaning takes care of most washing needs.
- If you use a detergent; use one intended for wool (i.e. Woolite).
- We discourage machine washing. If you do use a machine; use cold water on a delicate cycle. The blankets will likely shed during their first couple of machine washes.
Permanent Dye
These wool blankets (like most military style blankets) are dyed with a permanent dye during their production to give them a uniform color. The dye may give off an odor temporarily when first opened after shipment. The best way to remove the dye odor is to air out the blanket. Machine washing will not help since the permanent dye is water resistant. Airing out the blanket for a few days usually does the trick.
Care Tips:
Wool blankets will last a long time if taken care of properly. Use a protective bag when storing them out-of-season. Keep clean and dry.
Cautions:
- While wool blankets can breathe; they resist air flow. Infants; children; and even adults can suffocate if trapped under a wool blanket.
- Wool is a natural fire retardant but a wool blanket is not fire proof. Be careful around open flame.
